In his latest Football Morning in America piece, Peter King of NBC Sports said that Jimmy Haslam and his wife Dee Brown, co-owners of the Cleveland Browns, got the ire of some NFL owners for handing controversial quarterback Deshaun Watson a massive guaranteed contract.
Haslam is having none of it, though, saying that he did not hear any adverse reaction from fellow NFL owners during the recent NFL Annual Meeting.

“Normal. Yeah, I mean, really good,” Jimmy Haslam said during a small group interview with Browns beat writers. “I saw Peter King’s story, and there may be people that don’t want to say something to your face, but we’ve had great interactions with the owners like we always do. So we’ve noticed no difference.”
Seemingly desperate to upgrade at the quarterback position, the Browns went out and inked Watson to a record-setting $230 million guaranteed extension deal after acquiring him from the Houston Texans in a trade on Mar. 18.
In a vacuum, getting Watson is a huge plus for the Browns' offense that just couldn't maximize the talents on the team with Baker Mayfield running the show from under center. But the NFL is far from just being a vacuum, and the Browns surely knew when they decided to acquire and extend Watson that all eyes are going to be on them mainly because Watson is still facing 22 lawsuits.
