Here's some sizzling news out of Cleveland: suspended Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon is far from getting his suspension lifted by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell.

Per Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com, it doesn't appear Gordon's reinstatement is close to being approved.

Goodell, speaking in front of fans in Berea, Cleveland:

Goodell on Browns Gordon reinstatement: “Not under active consideration to my knowledge, at least it hasn't gotten to my desk yet.”

Gordon, who is serving an indefinite suspension for repeatedly violating the NFL's drug and alcohol policies, last saw regular season action in the NFL in 2014.  He last applied for reinstatement last March, but it was denied two months later.

The soonest he could reapply is this coming September. It's just a couple of weeks away, but for anyone who has a passing knowledge about Gordon's track record off the field, a few weeks is a long time for the Pro Bowl wide receiver to prove that he can stay clean and be in accordance with the league's policies.

So far in his NFL career, Gordon has 2,754 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns on 161 receptions. He played his college career at Baylor, and at just 26 years of age, he still has plenty of football miles left in his legs.
