In the days leading up to the season opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers, it had become abundantly clear from the Cleveland Browns that star wide receiver Josh Gordon would not receive the start in the contest.
However, he had been on the field to begin the game on the team's first offensive snap, which came to the dismay of head coach Hue Jackon, who stated following the contest that wasn't supposed to be the case, according to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.

This had been the notion given that Gordon had missed the much of the preseason due to getting treatment for his sobriety to keep his personal life together off the field. It was something that Gordon had voiced that he understood the situation given how things had unfolded for him away from the game as he was able to maintain himself by getting the necessary help and guidance.
Nonetheless, there may have been some miscommunication that led to him being on the field when he wasn't supposed to be. It is a minor issue that should quickly work itself out and see him back in the starting lineup as early as next week on the road against the New Orleans Saints as he demonstrated to be a significant factor in the passing game. Although he hauled in just one of his three targets that turned out to be a 17-yard touchdown reception that tied the helped tie it up at 21-21 with just under two minutes left in the fourth quarter.
Gordon has the game-changing talent to profoundly impact the game, which is something that coaching staff will look to implement him more in the game plan moving forward.
