New England Patriots offensive coordinator may want nothing to do with the Cincinnati Bengals head-coaching job, but he is reportedly very intrigued by the prospect of coaching the Cleveland Browns, according to Steve Doerschuk of The Canton Repository.

As a matter of fact, Doerschuk went as far to say that McDaniels is “enthusiastically interested” in the vacancy.

Of course, he might have some explaining to do first.

Remember: last year, McDaniels accepted the job as head coach of the Indianapolis Colts, even hiring some coaches on his staff before having a change of heart at the last second.

The Colts ended up going with Frank Reich as head coach, so things worked out pretty well for them, but teams interested in McDaniels' services this offseason will certainly want some assurance that McDaniels is not going to pull the same stunt once again.

The 42-year-old has been a head coach before, taking the job as Denver Broncos coach in 2009. He spent nearly two seasons with the Broncos, going 8-8 during his inaugural campaign and then getting fired after a 3-9 start in 2010.

He then landed with the then-St. Louis Rams as an offensive coordinator before returning to the Patriots the following year. McDaniels had been serving on New England's coaching staff since 2001 before becoming Denver's head coach eight years later.

The Browns are certainly an interesting team, as they went a respectable 7-8-1 this season behind rookie quarterback Baker Mayfield and a roster oozing with young talent and potential.

First, though, McDaniels has the Pats to worry about. The Patriots won 11 games and captured the AFC East division title this year and earned a first-round bye.
