The Cleveland Browns are in need of a head coach for the 2019 season, and after the fantastic second half the team put together, they will have a number of willing candidates who want to coach Baker Mayfield. According to BetOnline.ag, current New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels is the favorite to land the job, but not by a wide margin.
Josh McDaniels +350
Dan Campbell +500
Freddie Kitchens +500
Gregg Williams +500
Jim Caldwell +600
Mike McCarthy +700
Bruce Arians +700
The Patriots offensive coordinator could make an easy transition considering the team has all of the tools to make noise in the league for years to come. The Browns have one of the NFL's most talented young rosters that could eventually take the league by storm under the right coaching staff. The direction the Browns are heading towards right now is ground breaking, and few saw their strengths coming at the forefront this early.
Cleveland looked very well-balanced in 2018 with a fast defense and a high-powered offense. The draft picks have been fantastic the last two seasons since general manager John Dorsey was appointed to the job. Last season the team took defensive end Myles Garrett, tight end David Njoku, and safety Jabrill Peppers in the first round, and each of these picks has panned out very well. This season, rookie quarterback Baker Mayfield showed great leadership on the offensive side of the ball and rookie cornerback Denzel Ward showed great playmaking on defense.
If McDaniels is hired as the team's head coach, the Browns could make waves and turn into an elite squad after exceeding expectations this season.
