The Cleveland Browns remain without a head coach. New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels remains without somebody to coach, as his team is watching the rest of the playoffs from home after their wild-card loss to the Tennessee Titans.
According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the two can mutually solve their problems. McDaniels is interested in the Browns' head coaching job, so much so that it is labeled his dream job. According to Rapoport, the Browns hope that the coaching search will conclude at the end of the week.
A dream job for a once presumed to be a dream team.
Though the Browns shrank under the watch of now-departed Freddie Kitchens, they are a talented squad that McDaniels could undoubtedly utilize.
Third-year quarterback Baker Mayfield suffered the sophomore slump, but his potential comes in abundance. They have a formidable superstar wide receiver duo in Odell Beckham Jr. and Jarvis Landry. To wrap-it-up, their running back duo of Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt is the best in the NFL, while they certainly have their fair share of talent on defense.
The Browns were the only team not to make the playoffs in the 2010s. To most, that may not spell out dream job. However, considering the number of weapons, they could certainly find success under McDaniels. Moreso, if the Patriots coordinator were to turn around the Browns, it would be a move that cements his legacy in a positive light.
McDaniels previously failed as head coach of the Denver Broncos. Perhaps the inverse will be true in Cleveland.
