The Cleveland Browns toured the Pro Football Hall of Fame as part of their mandatory minicamp in the 2022 offseason on Wednesday. However, one key member of the team was missing: star defensive end Myles Garrett. Garrett had made it clear as a rookie back in 2017 that he wouldn't be visiting the hallowed football center in Canton, Ohio.

The Browns star has a very interesting reason for his decision to stay away from the site honoring the game's greatest players. Independent NFL reporter Dov Kleiman and Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal have the details.

“I'd like to be in it,” Garrett said as a rookie five years ago. “That's going to take a lot of work. It's kind of strange. I don't want to see [the Hall]. I want to see it if I'm able to achieve my goal. It's kind of like a test to me. You don't deserve to go there unless you're good enough to be in it. I want to see the greatness that's come before me, but I also want to be a part of it.”

Garrett said that he'd “like to be in it”, meaning the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The Browns star said that he doesn't want to see the Hall “unless he's able to achieve his goal”, looking at it as a challenge.

Come on, Myles! That's like an artist saying they won't visit The Louvre unless they paint something as good as The Mona Lisa. In all seriousness, however Garrett motivates himself to be the best he can be is what he should do.

It certainly appears to be working. The Browns star has rattled off four straight double-digit sack seasons, including a career-best 16 last year, while earning All-Pro honors in 2020 and 2021.

Garrett will be on his way to the Hall if he keeps that up.
