Cleveland Browns wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. enjoyed quite the homecoming in his return to MetLife Stadium during Week 2 against the New York Jets. Unfortunately, he is still haunted by the play he failed to make.

Quarterback Baker Mayfield's lone interception in the game came on a pass that was intended for Beckham. According to Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com, he apologized to Mayfield for allowing the ball to go off his hands.

“When we got on the plane, I remember telling him on the interception, that’s my fault,’’ Beckham said. “That (expletive) will never happen again. I mean, that will never happen again. Just get better today (at practice), and that’s what we did. We went out, we got better today, we worked on routes when we had a chance to go to individual, we’ll go work on something else. So with guys like us we’re never going to be satisfied with just being OK.’’

The interception was Mayfield's fourth of the season. Unfortunately, there is no distinction between such plays when it comes to the stat book. Regardless, it is still encouraging to see that Beckham and his teammates are always looking for ways to improve.

The Browns finally got to utilize exactly what the All-Pro wideout brings to the table. He finished the game with six receptions for 161 yards, highlighted by an 89-yard catch-and-run for a touchdown. Beckham's stellar performance helped to alleviate an otherwise shaky day from Mayfield.

It is no secret that the former No. 1 pick has struggled to find his footing thus far in the 2019 NFL season. Fortunately, it is clear Mayfield will be able to rely heavily on Beckham as his safety net until he gets his groove back.
