The Cleveland Browns put the finishing touches on their impressive offseason by taking two of the top prospects in the 2018  NFL Draft. It appears defensive coordinator Gregg Williams has already made an impression on one of those rookies.

Cornerback Denzel Ward is among a slew of young Browns players getting accustomed to his new team. According to Nick Shook of NFL.com, he has already taken notice of Williams' intensity in practice thus far:

“Definitely a high-intensity coach,” Ward said, describing Williams. “A coach that seems like he likes to test you and see how you respond to a lot of situations.”

Ward's comments should certainly come as no surprise. Williams is regarded as one of the most passionate coaches in the NFL. With Cleveland looking to burst out of its pit of mediocrity, there is little time for Williams to tone it down.

His intensity may also be a result of the team's expectations of Ward this year. The Browns went against the grain in the draft by taking Ward as opposed to defensive end Bradley Chubb. However, it was recently revealed that the team may be planning on making him the starter immediately.

It is encouraging to see the team have so much faith in the rookie. However, becoming the starter this early can prove to be quite a challenge for any player. His job will not get any easier either with the Browns opening up against the Pittsburgh Steelers and New Orleans Saints. This could be why Williams feels the need to bring the intensity for young players like Ward to get acquainted quickly.
