The general consensus all along has been that the Dallas Cowboys will re-sign wide receiver Amari Cooper, but the Cowboys seem to be dragging their feet.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network is reporting that Dallas will not have a deal in place for Cooper before the tampering window begins on Monday afternoon.

Rapoport notes that the Cowboys want to bring Cooper back and will continue talking with him, but now, they are opening the door to other teams being able to negotiate terms of potential deal with him before free agency officially begins on Wednesday.

Cooper is coming off of a 2019 campaign in which he played every game and hauled in 79 receptions for 1,189 yards and eight touchdowns, en route to a Pro Bowl appearance.

Dallas initially acquired Cooper in a trade with the Oakland Raiders midway through the 2018 campaign. In nine games with the Cowboys in 2018, the wide out caught 53 passes for 725 yards and six scores, and on the season overall, he totaled 75 grabs for 1,005 yards while reaching the end zone seven times.

The 25-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of Alabama, was originally selected by the Raiders with the fourth overall pick of the 2015 NFL Draft.

Cooper enjoyed a terrific rookie year, catching 72 passes for 1,070 yards and six touchdowns, making the Pro Bowl right off the bat. He then earned his second straight Pro Bowl selection in 2016, snaring 83 balls for 1,153 yards and five scores.

However, Cooper struggled in 2017, and a litany of dropped passes between that season and early 2018 resulted in the Raiders trading him to the Cowboys for a first-round draft pick.
