After initially being listed as questionable in Week 9, it looks like Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott will be able to play when his team faces the undefeated Pittsburgh Steelers.

Despite being limited in practice this week due to a hamstring strain, Elliott was able to go through a team workout and has been include in the Cowboys’ lineup against the Steelers.

However, it remains unclear if the 25-year-old running back will have a heavy workload for the Dallas offense given that he is coming off an injury. If Elliott is less than 100 percent, running back Tony Pollard is expected to receive a bigger role for Dallas.

Elliott, a three-time Pro Bowler, has played in the Cowboys’ first eight games this season and has 132 carries and 521 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns while adding 34 receptions, 220 receiving yards, and one receiving touchdown. These numbers, however, are far from the numbers he put up in past seasons, when he led the NFL in rushing yards for two seasons (first in 2016, then in 2018) and was named to the first- and second-team All-Pro during those two seasons.

The Cowboys have lost three straight games to the Arizona Cardinals, Washington Football Team, and the Philadelphia Eagles since quarterback Dak Prescott went down with an injury in Week 5 against the New York Giants. Dallas will now have their fourth quarterback in Garrett Gilbert this season under center against the Steelers, which boasts one of the league’s best defenses.

The team certainly hopes that Elliott can recapture his deadly form as they look to face an uphill battle against the Steelers, the NFL’s only remaining unbeaten team.
