There is a lot of uncertainty surrounding the Dallas Cowboys and Ezekiel Elliott as they fail to reach an agreement on a contract extension yet again. However, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones remains confident that they can tie down their star running back to a long-term deal that is beneficial to all the parties involved.

Elliott has so far missed training camp and preseason to get his preferred contract sorted. The fact that he is willing to take the $40,000 fine that is billed on his tab daily is a testament to the deal's importance to him.

However, Jones remains calm about the situation as he still has his star running back tied for two years. Per Mike Florio's report in NBC Sports' Pro Football Talk, the owner of America's Team is confident that they will eventually get Elliott over.

“I’m optimistic that we can get Zeke’s deal done,” owner Jerry Jones said after Saturday night’s preseason game. “I don’t know that. I don’t know that. But sure, I don’t mean to be trite, but the whole premise is based on getting everybody under contract playing, so that’s what we’re trying to do here. Zeke’s under contract.”

Jones also understands that he cannot dally on finishing this deal any longer. The former Buckeye (who was drafted fourth overall in the 2016 Draft) had incredible numbers right off the bat. He has totaled more than 4000 rushing yards in his three seasons of pro football. He also has safe hands as he also notched 1200 receiving yards with the Cowboys.

It is only a matter of time until one side gives in and provide what the other party wanted. Until then, the Cowboy faithful remains hopeful that the contract debacle is done and dealt with so that everyone can focus on playing football.
