The Dallas Cowboys suffered a brutal loss in their Wild Card Weekend Game against the San Francisco 49ers. What Dak Prescott and Dallas thought was going to be “their year” ended up ending in the first round of the postseason. Now, it seems like head coach Mike McCarthy could be in some trouble.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones told 105.3 The FAN Friday morning that he has “a lot to think about” regarding his coaching staff. NFL reporter Jori Epstein tweeted the news.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones declines to give Mike McCarthy a rousing endorsement this morning.
"I won’t get in to any conversations that I’ve had with anybody relative to anything to do with staff," he tells @1053thefan. "I've got a lot to think about regarding these coaches."

Epstein also noted that Jones refused to give McCarthy any “rousing endorsements” on the show, and also refused to “get into any conversations” he has had relating the Cowboys' staff.
Article Continues BelowWhile Jones didn't say much, it said a lot. Back in December, Jones admitted on the same radio station that it was “probably fair” to say that Dak Prescott was in a slump. Now, the job security of Mike McCarthy seems very questionable.
Executive vice president Stephen Jones spoke on The FAN on Monday, completely contradicting McCarthy's cryptic word choice (or lack of words). ESPN reports that the VP said both “absolutely” and “very confident” regarding McCarthy's return with Dallas next season.
Nothing is official yet, and there is still plenty of time in the Cowboys' offseason for Jerry Jones to figure out his coaching situation. If McCarthy does return, it will be his third season with the Cowboys.
