Dallas Cowboys pass rusher Taco Charlton underwent a procedure recently, but fortunately it doesn't seem too serious. Charlton had an ankle scope, a source told Calvin Watkins of The Athletic. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network tweets that it was “minor arthroscopic surgery,” and that he “should be fine by camp.”
Charlton shared a photo of himself after the procedure, where he can be seen wearing a walking boot.

While the injury doesn't seem too serious, it's still a pretty big blow to a player who needs all the time he can get.
The 2017 first round pick hasn't made too big of an impact his first couple years in the league, and 2019 is a massive season for him. Any time he'll have to spend rehabbing instead of on the field during OTAs is a big loss. He'll be falling behind a bit, and this won't help his quest for more playing time.
Now Charlton will have to come back looking especially good in camp if he wants a shot at a starting job. In his rookie season, Charlton appeared in all 16 games but made no starts, and notched three sacks. Last year, he was limited to only 11 games because of a shoulder injury, but he did make seven starts. Still, he only managed one sack.
He had surgery on his shoulder in January, so this is his second surgery of the offseason. With just four sacks through two seasons, this could be a make or break year for the young pass-rusher.
