Dallas Cowboys center Travis Frederick understands that the NFL is a business and has no hard feelings toward Ezekiel Elliott who appears to be holding out for a new contract. It's not official yet that Elliott is holding out, but he wasn't on the plane that took the players out to training camp.
Frederick knows that everyone needs to do everything they can to make money because a devastating injury is only one snap away.
“To me, this game is a business,” center Travis Frederick said via Pro Football Talk. “Everybody has to treat it as such. I hold no hard feelings to anybody that is trying to do that and get the business done and protect their family. So for me, we are out here to work. We are going to work with the guys that we have. That is not a dig at anybody. That is how it works. Guys get hurt, and you don’t have them for practice. Guys get sick, and you don’t have them for practice. And some guys aren’t here because they are working through some of the business portions. You just deal with what you have.”
Elliott is entering the last guaranteed year of his deal, but the team can still pick up his fifth-year option for next year. Elliott has made it clear that he wants to get paid, but it's unclear if he will miss games to make his point known, or if he plans on reporting at some point during training camp. Either way, Frederick is right, the Cowboys need to deal with what they have right now.
