The Dallas Cowboys and running back Ezekiel Elliott haven't exactly seen eye-to-eye when it comes to a new contract. With that in mind, it doesn't seem like Elliott will be at training camp when it opens up.

In fact, according to Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com, he might not even be in the country at all.

This isn't exactly what you'd want to hear if you're a fan of the Dallas Cowboys. Ezekiel Elliott is one of the best running backs in the NFL. Therefore, a contract dispute isn't that crazy as it would make sense that he wants to get paid a little bit better.

Even a holdout of sorts wouldn't be that crazy as the two sides try to agree on a deal.

However, if the rumors are true and Elliott really isn't in the country when training camp starts – that's a lot worse. That would indicate that the sides aren't exactly close when it comes to their vision on a contract.

It's kind of surprising. The Cowboys offense is infinitely better when Elliott is on the field. You'd expect they'd want to throw everything they have at him, so he could grow with quarterback Dak Prescott.

All that being said, though, there are two crucial things to remember. First of all, this is simply a rumor. In the end, there could be very limited disputes between Elliott and the Cowboys, and he could even be there for training camp.

Second, if it is true, it's not the end of the world. Although the two sides are far apart at the moment, maybe they'll close the gap quick enough for Elliott to be ready well before the start of the regular season.

The Dallas Cowboys were a playoff team in 2018, and Ezekiel Elliott was a significant part of that. Now it's time to see if they feel it was worth the payday or not. While they figure that out, the running back might be on vacation.
