Dallas Cowboys running back Alfred Morris once appeared destined to be a star in the National Football League. As quickly as his figurative star brightened, it dimmed to the point of him becoming a relative afterthought.

The Washington Redskins selected him in the sixth round of the 2012 NFL Draft. Somehow, through magic, he ended up their starting running back by Week 1. He took advantage of the opportunity, rushing for 1,613 yards and 13 touchdowns that season.

Since then? Eh. He hasn't been an incredibly productive back, regardless of where he has played.

According to the running back, however, things have found a way to work itself. Alfred Morris credits god for this.

“I’m glad I came here. I’m a better person because of it,” Morris said, via the Dallas Morning News’ Jon Machota. “I’ve been through a lot these last two and a half years, counting my last year in Washington.

“Is it the way I wanted it to go? Not at all. But that’s how [God] wanted it to go and I’m a better person because of it.”

There's no reason to make fun of someone crediting his or her god for finding their slot in life. Especially not when that person, here being Morris, has used the heavenly being as motivation for becoming a better person.

With the Cowboys having a weird situation at running back for the rest of the season, Morris is in a position to have a career resurgence. While no one yet knows if he will be able to do that, Dallas is surely betting the house on it.
