The Dallas Cowboys traded for Amari Cooper last season which means they don't have a first-round pick this year, and they aren't expecting to acquire one before the draft.

Executive vice president Stephen Jones was asked on 105.3 The Fan on Tuesday if he expected the team to try and get a first-round pick and he said that he doesn't.

“I don’t think so,” Jones said on 105.3 The Fan, via the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Jones said that it took a lot of time and thought to give up the first-round pick to get the deal done, but he made it clear he would do it time and time again to get a talent like Cooper.

“It took an act of Congress to give up a first-round pick. We know how valuable those are. It took a lot of discussion, a lot of homework, a lot of really getting your hands around giving up a first round pick, and certainly, it’s something that you don’t love to do without. We would certainly do the same thing over again in terms of what it did for us with Amari Cooper and what’s it going to do for our future.”

The Cowboys only have six draft picks so it would probably take ammo from next years draft to get the deal done, but Jones seems to be content with rolling with Cooper and the rest of the Cowboys.

The Cowboys' first pick is in the second round at 58th overall.
