With one week left in 2017 NFL season, many of the league's elite team's have already decided to rest their starters for the playoffs. However, Philadelphia Eagles head coach Doug Pederson has other plans for his team.

Although the Eagles are the top seed in the NFC playoffs, it does not appear as if they will be letting up in the season finale. Pederson announced that he plans to play the starters in Week 17 versus the Dallas Cowboys during the team' s press conference:

“The idea is to keep the starters going,” said the Eagles coach when he met with reporters on Friday morning. “I don’t want to not play them and then it’s three weeks later that they’re playing again (in the divisional round of the playoffs).

“I think that’s foolish on my part. I want to make sure they stay into the moment, but at the same time, I’ll be smart on how much they play, how long they play, and go from there.”

While Pederson's decree may come as a bit of a surprise, it certainly makes sense. The Eagles' title chances suffered a huge blow when quarterback Carson Wentz went down for the year. As a result, quarterback Nick Foles has had to step up in his absence.

Although Foles has done a solid job of filling the void, there is still plenty of work to be done before their first playoff game. That said, they will need Foles to get as comfortable as possible with the offense if Philadelphia is to stand a chance.
