When Saquon Barkley was drafted, most New York Giants fans were happy that their team got their running back of the future.

Not only are the fans happy, but they are also snatching up his jersey like no other first-round draft pick ever. According to Darren Rovell of ESPN, Barkley generated more jersey sales than any other rookie on Thursday night.

“That's according to Fanatics, which runs the official NFL online shop and is the world's largest online seller of licensed sports merchandise.”

“The private company won't divulge specific numbers, but a Fanatics official told ESPN that Barkley sold more jerseys on draft night than any other player in its history.”

Barkley did have a sort of a head start being the second pick because Fanatics started selling the jerseys within five minutes of the players being picked.

That means the only person who had their jersey on the market longer was Baker Mayfield who went number one overall to the Cleveland Browns.

The second best-selling jersey was Baker Mayfield, and the third best selling one was Sam Darnold of the New York Jets. It sure seems fighting that each of the top three picks were in the top three of jersey sales in the first night of their NFL careers.

For Barkley, he is a likable guy who should fit in well with the Giants fans, as long as he performs. Everyone knows that Giants fans and the media are some of the first to turn on players when they struggle. With the skill set that Barkley has, it's hard to think that he will struggle.
