Green Bay Packers halfback Aaron Jones has been ruled out of a Week 8 contest against the Minnesota Vikings, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. The fourth-year running back has been dealing with a calf injury that's kept him sidelined recently.

Jones missed out in the Packer's Week 7 win against the Houston Texans after sustaining the injury. His last performance against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers didn't turn in much productivity. He finished the contest posting a total of 15 yards off 10 carries. While the injury doesn't appear to be too serious, head coach Matt LaFleur has stated that the team doctors will be cautious with the 25-year-old as he comes back from the calf injury.
“He's got to continue to improve and get better each day,” stated LaFleur on Wednesday, via Rob Demovsky of ESPN. “We'll be smart with him.”
Jones has had a modest season so far. His best outing came in Week 2 against the Detroit Lions, resulting in him averaging 9.33 rushing yards per carry. He finished the game rushing for 168 yards, his highest yardage total of the season by far.
In Jones' absence, Jamaal Williams was instrumental in his place as he aided the Packers in a bounce back win against the Texans. He finished the contest with 77 yards on 19 carries, resulting in one touchdown. He also played well in catches from the backfield, receiving four of his five targets for 37 yards.
The Packers will also rely on third string back AJ Dillon in the event that Williams doesn't get off to a hot start against the Vikings on Sunday.
