The Green Bay Packers have had a busy offseason, but in spite of their splurge, they still have $14 million remaining in cap space, according to the NFL Players' Association.
Thus far, the Packers have signed linebackers Preston Smith and Za'Darius Smith, safety Adrian Amos and offensive lineman Billy Turner while also re-signing wide receiver Geronimo Allison and tight end Marcedes Lewis.
Based on the fact that Green Bay is coming off of a season in which it went just 6-9-1, you can see why the Packers have had such a sense of urgency to improve their roster this offseason, particularly on the defensive side of the ball where they struggled mightily this past year.
Green Bay ended up missing the playoffs, marking the first time since 2006 that the Packers have failed to qualify for the postseason in back-to-back years.

As a result of the Packers' struggles in 2018, Green Bay fired long-time head coach Mike McCarthy after 4-7-1 start. McCarthy had been at the helm since 2006 and not only led the Pack to a Super Bowl title during the 2010-11 campaign, but also brought them to the playoffs eight years in a row between 2009 and 2016.
Green Bay then proceeded to find McCarthy's replacement earlier this offseason, hiring former Tennessee Titans offensive coordinator Matt LaFleur as the new head coach back in January.
LaFleur had also served one year under Sean McVay with the Los Angeles Rams in 2017.
