The Green Bay Packers came away with a pivotal win on Sunday, topping the Carolina Panthers to improve to 8-2 on the season and put themselves in a position to earn a first-round bye in the NFC playoff picture.

Afterward, Packers head coach Matt LaFleur made a rather strong statement to his team, telling them not to take their current standing for granted.

Green Bay bounced from what was a very disappointing and anemic loss to the Los Angeles Chargers last week, and with the New Orleans Saints losing to the Atlanta Falcons, the Packers now own the second-best record in the NFC.

Of course, there is still plenty of work for Green Bay to do.

The Packers have a bye this week, but in Week 12, they will have to head on the road to take on the currently undefeated San Francisco 49ers in a game that could ultimately determine who snags the No. overall 1 seed in the conference.

Things then ease up a bit for Green Bay in Weeks 13 and 14, as it will battle the New York Giants and Washington Redskins in back-to-back weeks, two teams that own combined records of 3-16.

The Packers will then close out their regular season with three straight NFC North tilts, as they will host the Chicago Bears on Dec. 15 before a couple of road meetings with the Minnesota Vikings and Detroit Lions in Weeks 16 and 17.

Green Bay is aiming to make the playoffs for the first time in three years and seems to be in a great position to make that happen.
