Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson may not have a healthy relationship with the team at the moment but it didn't hinder him from making an impact on the city and its people, most especially on the youth.

The Deshaun Watson Foundation recently held a ‘4 books for #4 summer reading challenge'. On Monday night, Watson took the time to surprise the winners of the challenge by pledging scholarships for their college education.

“Deshaun was blown away by the kids,” said Bryan Burney, Watson's business manager at Athletes First via the Houston Chronicle. “They went to a Foot Locker and he was amazed at how selfless these kids are. They didn't want shoes for themselves. They wanted to pick out shoes for their siblings. Deshaun, after the shopping spree, he wanted to keep up with those kids. Our foundation is still growing and Deshaun said, ‘Let's give these kids scholarships and make sure they go to college.'

According to Burney, the children's parents were overwhelmed by the kind gesture of Watson. It eventually became an emotional moment for the children and their families after hearing the good news from the quarterback. Watson also reportedly made a promise to the kids and said, ‘As long as you do a good job in school and apply yourselves, I'll take care of your college.'

Through the Deshaun Watson Foundation in partnership with AshleyHomeStore, more than 1,000 Houston area children were encouraged to read which totaled to over 5,000 books last summer.

Despite his unideal situation with the Texans, Deshaun Watson still didn't forget to pay it forward and also made an effort to impact the lives of the next generation.
