The Houston Texans have parted ways with wide receiver Braxton Miller, John McClain of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Miller, who spent most of his college years at Ohio State as a quarterback, was a third-round pick of the Texans in the 2016 NFL Draft. He was converted into a wide receiver during the final year with the Buckeyes, but the same experiment didn’t last long in Houston.
Miller, however, struggled with injuries during his short stint with the Texans, as he was only able to play 10 games in his rookie year and 11 in his second year in the league.
Earlier this August, Texans head coach Bill O’Brien spoke about Miller, and offered, in retrospect, what seemed to be a bit of writing on the wall that the wide receiver’s days as a Texan were numbered, via Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle.
“I think the thing with Braxton is always going to be health, staying healthy. It's going to be what does he do for us on special teams, but he's made a lot of improvements at receiver and it's a real battle at that position.”
With guys like DeAndre Hopkins and Will Fuller in front of him on the depth chart, Braxton Miller was never going to be a top target downfield in Houston. His stock, however, dipped even more with the arrival of wideout Bruce Ellington, who signed a one-year deal with the Texans back in March.
In 21 games wearing Houston’s colors, Braxton Miller collected just 261 receiving yards and two touchdowns on 34 catches.
He is still just 25 (turning 26 this November) and is a gifted athlete, so it’s not a stretch to think that he’ll get another shot somewhere else in the NFL.
