The New York Jets did not win many games this season, which is not surprising considering the quality of personnel they have. For the second straight year, they went 5-10 while extending their streak of playoff absence to seven seasons. Changes will have to happen soon for the Jets to become relevant again.

According to Jets general manager Mike Maccagnan, the team is going to be a major player in NFL free agency, as they look to start trending upwards next season, per Andy Vasquez of Northjersey.com

“I think we'll be very active,” Maccagnan said. “I do think we have a lot of potential to improve this team going forward.”

Perhaps the top priority for the Jets this offseason is to find a new quarterback. After squeezing every ounce of value out of Josh McCown’s one-year contract, the Jets need a long-term solution under center.

McCown, 38, could come back for another year, but it’s clear he is not going to be a franchise cornerstone. If they keep McCown, getting a quarterback in this year’s NFL Draft could be out of the picture. New York holds the sixth pick overall this 2018.

In addition, the New York franchise is also in need of bodies to shore up other positions such as on the offensive line, on the secondary, and running back.
