The Kansas City Chiefs have signed quarterback E.J. Manuel, according to Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk.

Manuel did not play in the NFL this past season after he was cut by the Oakland Raiders shortly before the 2018 campaign began.

He last appeared with the Raiders in 2017, playing two games and making one start. During that time, he completed 24 of his 43 passes for 265 yards, a touchdown and an interception.

The 28-year-old, who played his collegiate football at Florida State University, was originally selected by the Buffalo Bills in the first round (16th pick overall) of the 2013 NFL Draft.

He ended up making 10 starts during his rookie campaign, throwing for 1,972 yards, 11 touchdowns and nine picks while completing 58.8 percent of his passes and registering a passer rating of 77.7

The following year, Manuel appeared in five contests and made just four starts, finishing with 838 yards, five touchdowns and three interceptions, posting a completion percentage of 58 percent and a passer rating of 80.3.

By that point, it was becoming increasingly obvious that Manuel was not the Bills' quarterback of the future, and in 2015, he made only two starts while playing in seven games total, completing 52 of his 84 passes for 561 yards, three scores and three picks.

He made one more start with Buffalo in 2016 before the Bills finally parted ways with him that ensuing offseason, leading to the Raiders signing him.

Of course, the Chiefs certainly are not in need of a starting quarterback, as their current signal-caller, Patrick Mahomes, just won the NFL MVP award after leading the league with 50 touchdowns.
