The Chiefs have done well here in ensuring that Remmers stays in Kansas City for at least another season. The 31-year-old emerged as a key player for Kansas City last season, and the team has now deemed it necessary to keep him on for 2021.

It will now be interesting to see how the Chiefs will handle the RT position. As Rapoport indicated in his report above, the Chiefs seem set on Remmers as their starting right tackle. This likely means that the highly-touted Lucas Niang will likely come off the bench behind Remmers. There were some whispers about how the former Texas Christian University standout was ready to take over the starting gig, but it now appears that the rookie has fallen behind in the pecking order.

If anything, Remmers' shortcomings were exposed during the Chiefs' Super Bowl LV defeat to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He looked overmatched for the most part, as the Bucs defense pretty much ran circles around him (and KC's entire offensive line as well). Nevertheless, head coach Andy Reid remains steadfast in his confidence in Remmers as the veteran looks to make a significant contribution for the Chiefs for the upcoming season, and perhaps, even beyond.
