The Kansas City Chiefs, along with the rest of the NFL, have to find ways to prepare themselves for the salary cap to decline this offseason. According to the NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Chiefs are releasing both Eric Fisher and Mitchell Schwartz on Thursday.

Eric Fisher took to Instagram to announce that he was being released by the Chiefs as he looks forward to the next chapter in his career. At the same time, Kansas City is moving on from Schwartz, meaning that they'll have to replace both of their starting tackles from this past season.
Back in 2013, Fisher was the No. 1 overall pick by the Chiefs coming out of Central Michigan. After starting at right tackle in his rookie season, Fisher has been the starting left tackle for Kansas City, where he was able to make two Pro Bowls and win a Super Bowl.

As for Schwartz, he's been one of the best right tackles in the NFL for the majority of his career. Schwartz has spent the past five years with the Chiefs, which is where he earned his first All-Pro honor in 2018. The veteran right tackle only played in six games during the 2020 season due to injury.
In all likeliness, Lucas Niang will now become the right tackle for the Chiefs entering the 2021 season. Still, Kansas City will have to revamp their offensive line after the releases of Fisher and Schwartz, especially after seeing what happened in the Super Bowl.
