Carlos Hyde wasn't on the unemployment line for too much longer, as he has signed a one-year deal with the Chiefs.
Yesterday, we told you that the Jaguars let Hyde go. The Jags let Hyde go after failing to successfully trade the running back. And while the news was surprising, it certainly wasn't shocking.
Now, however, Hyde will join his new team and will be able to compete with Damien Williams for carries.
Article Continues BelowHyde will be a solid addition for the Chiefs. They needed a consistent veteran running back and Hyde has shown flashes of being a capable every down back.
“Hyde left San Francisco in March of 2018 to sign with the Browns on a three-year, $15.25 million deal. He ran for 382 yards and five touchdowns in six games with the Browns before being traded to Jacksonville for a fifth-round draft pick, a move that cleared the way for Browns rookie Nick Chubb to get more snaps. Hyde played in eight games with the Jaguars, who were short at the running back position due in large part to an injury to Leonard Fournette, and ran for 189 yards on 58 carries. On his career, Hyde has 3,300 rushing yards and 26 touchdowns with a career average of 4.0 yards per carry, along with 119 catches for 667 yards and three touchdowns.”
Kansas City is hoping to build off of their huge 2018 season. Hyde may not move the needle much, but he's a good addition at a good price.
