New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees may be the MVP frontrunner, but Fox Sports analyst Nick Wright is strongly beating the drum for Kansas City Chiefs signal-caller Patrick Mahomes:

Mahomes is indeed having a ridiculously good season, throwing for 5,097 yards, a league-leading 50 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions while completing 66 percent of his passes and registering a passer rating of 113.8 en route to a Pro Bowl appearance.
He also threw for three or more touchdowns in nine of his 16 starts this season, including a season-high six touchdown passes during a 54-51 loss to the Los Angeles Rams back on Nov. 19.
The 23-year-old, who played his collegiate football at Texas A&M University, was originally selected by the Chiefs with the 10th overall pick of the 2017 NFL Draft.
He started just one game during his rookie campaign, as he was behind Alex Smith on the depth chart.

Needless to say, that was a pretty good decision.
Mahomes has also led the Chiefs to a 12-win season, resulting in an AFC North division title and the No. 1 seed in the conference.
Obviously, the MVP race is down to two players: Mahomes and Brees.
It will be very interesting to see who ends up taking home the award, but Brees, who set the NFL record for completion percentage, paced the league in passer rating and led the Saints to the best record in football this season, may have the inside track.
