USA track star Sha'Carri Richardson was set to compete in likely more than just one event at the Tokyo Olympics. After a positive test for marijuana, she was suspended from the games. Multiple athletes, including Kansas City Chiefs superstar Patrick Mahomes have come to the defense of Richardson.
Mahomes initially commented on the ordeal via Twitter, and on Thursday the Chiefs star quarterbacks appeared on First Take to double-down on his thoughts.
Patrick Mahomes speaks on Sha'Carri Richardson being left off the Olympic relay team.
"She put in the work. Even though she made a mistake, like we all make mistakes … to not let her be at the Olympics at all is pretty ridiculous to me." pic.twitter.com/MUqxqzl3ye

Richardson was the favorite to win the 100 and now won't be able to participate for Team USA. She spoke on the matter on the Today Show on July 2.

“I want to take responsibility for my actions,” she told Savannah Guthrie in an exclusive interview Friday on TODAY. “I know what I did, I know what I'm supposed to do … and I still made that decision.
“(I'm) not making an excuse or looking for any empathy in my case, but, however, being in that position in my life, finding out something like that, something that I would say is probably one of the biggest things that have impacted me … that definitely was a very heavy topic on me.”
Sha'Carri Richardson was set to be one of the premier athletes for fans to tune in for during the Tokyo Olympics and her fans included the likes of Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes amongst many others. Now, after her suspension, the 21-year-old will be forced to miss the games.
