Patrick Mahomes has only been a starter for two years, but he is already becoming the face of the NFL. On Monday, the NFL Players' Association announced that the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback had more of his merchandise sold than any other player in the league between March 1 and Nov. 30, supplanting New England Patriots legend Tom Brady.

So, not only has Mahomes taken the AFC crown away from Brady, but he has also snatched the popularity crown.

The NFLPA also anticipates that Mahomes will maintain his grasp on the top merchandise spot next year.

Brady had been No. 1 in that category the previous two years and finished second this time around.

Mahomes is coming off of a brilliant performance in the AFC Championship Game, completing 23 of his 35 throws for 294 yards and three touchdowns while also rushing for 53 yards and a score in a 35-24 win over the Tennessee Titans.

It marks the first time since the 1969-70 campaign that the Chiefs are in the Super Bowl.

During the regular season, the reigning NFL MVP threw for 4,031 yards, 26 touchdowns and five interceptions while completing 65.9 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 105.3.

The 24-year-old missed a couple of games during the middle of the season due to a dislocated knee cap.

Mahomes, who played his collegiate football at Texas Tech, was originally selected by Kansas City with the 10th overall pick of the 2017 NFL Draft and spent his rookie campaign learning behind Alex Smith before taking over under center in 2018.

The Chiefs will take on the San Francisco 49ers in the Super Bowl on Feb. 2.
