Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was looking real good in a recent workout video as he continues to prepare for training camp, and Thursday he addressed his status during a NFL Network interview from a celebrity golf tournament in Lake Tahoe.

“The toe's feeling great,” he said during an interview with NFL Network's Patrick Claybon airing Thursday on NFL Total Access. “I'm out here playing golf, being able to walk around the course. I've been running, cutting, jumping, throwing, doing it all. So I'm just excited to get back to training camp and have another chance to make a run at it and win the Super Bowl this year.”

Mahomes initially suffered the injury during the last playoff run to the Super Bowl, which resulted in an ugly loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Chiefs star was running for his life all game and never looked all that comfortable. He underwent surgery not long after the disappointing defeat.

The rehab has gone great, though. Mahomes ditched his walking boot in the spring and participated in mandatory minicamp in June. The Chiefs gunslinger is clearly eager to get back out there and return to the Super Bowl after missing out on the celebration festivities this last time around:

“It's different in the sense that you don't have the parades and all that different type of stuff,” he noted. “But I think the beautiful thing about the NFL is every single year, you start from scratch. You have to come in, you have to put in the work to try to get to the big game and try to win it. And so for us, win or lose that Super Bowl the last two years, we still have that same mentality of we're going to start from scratch and build and try to find a way to get back to that game.”

Patrick Mahomes had an awesome 2020 season, throwing for 4,740 yards and 38 touchdowns to just six interceptions. The Chiefs went 14-2 in the regular season (Mahomes missed one game) before going to the Super Bowl.
