The Kansas City Chiefs' Week 1 matchup with the Jacksonville Jaguars saw both sides bloodied in the AFC West franchise's season-opening victory. While Jaguars quarterback Nick Foles—a new signing in the offseason—broke his clavicle, the matchup also resulted in star Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill injuring his shoulder. Hill had to be hospitalized after leaving the game.

Hill will not face any surgery for his shoulder, but the injury will require the 25-year-old wideout to miss “a few weeks,” per the NFL's Ian Rapoport.

According to ESPN's Chris Mortensen, however, Hill is returning from the hospital to Kansas City (the Chiefs were in Jacksonville for Week 1), where he will arrive shortly and is “doing better.” Mortensen also adds that there is yet to be a determination of the length of Hill's foreseeable absence.

The 5-foot-10 Hill is one of 2019 NFL MVP quarterback Patrick Mahomes' top targets on a potent Chiefs offense coached by Andy Reid. Hill caught 87 receptions for nearly 1,500 yards last season, scoring 12 touchdowns in the air. He has earned three Pro-Bowl selection in the last three years including two spots on the All-Pro first team.

While Hill went down with his shoulder injury, Mahomes shifted his attention to former Buffalo Bills first-round selection Sammy Watkins, who put up a show in Week 1 against Jacksonville's secondary. The 26-year-old Watkins racked up nearly 200 yards alone on nine receptions, scoring three touchdowns for Kansas City.

Without Hill, though, Mahomes and the Chiefs' offense will surely never hit their ceiling, so the organization is hoping for a speedy recovery for Hill even though other scoring options exist.
