Pro Bowl left tackle Eric Fisher could be on the verge of new employment. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported the former Kansas City Chiefs star has been in contact with “numerous” teams, adding Fisher is one to “keep an eye on” after next week's NFL draft.

Eric Fisher became a free agent after the Chiefs released him last month.

The 2013 No. 1 overall pick had long been a staple of Kansas City's offensive line. He made his second Pro Bowl in 2020 after first being named to the AFC roster in 2018. However, Eric Fisher suffered a torn Achilles during the AFC Championship Game, and the Chiefs–pressed for cap space–released him so as to shed salary.

Fisher's injury has not stopped teams from showing interest, likely because he could be back on the field sooner than originally anticipated. Chiefs general manager Brett Veach said in March that Eric Fisher could return sometime in mid-August.

That timeline would make Eric Fisher ready for the end of camp. He would likely miss at least the first week or two of the regular season. Still, a potentially encouraging timeline.

Which teams might make a push to sign Fisher?

The Cincinnati Bengals might be an interesting destination. Early indications seemed to suggest the Bengals might draft Oregon offensive tackle Penei Sewell. But it's possible the Bengals instead select a pass-catcher like Kyle Pitts or Ja'Marr Chase. They could then potentially sign Eric Fisher to bolster the O-line.

The Las Vegas Raiders could sign Fisher and move him or Kolton Miller to right tackle after trading away Trent Brown this offseason.
