Patrick Mahomes is preparing to play in his second consecutive Super Bowl as the Kansas City Chiefs try to repeat as champions for the first time since Tom Brady and the New England Patriots in Super Bowls XXXVIII and XXXIX. Oddly enough, Mahomes and the Chiefs will have to get past Tom Brady once again, as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers seek their first championship since the 2002 season, which immediately preceded the back-to-back Brady titles in New England.
Mahomes has had a spectacular year once again, finishing the regular slate with 4,740 yards and 38 touchdowns with only six picks in 15 games. For Mahomes, he might lose out on the NFL MVP award to Aaron Rodgers of the Green Bay Packers, and both quarterbacks had a terrific season in 2020.
As Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes try to repeat as champions, the pressure lays on Pat's shoulders, and the NFL's highest-paid player looks to earn every dollar of that paycheck.
Let's take a look at three predictions for Patrick Mahomes as Sunday inches closer and closer.
1. Patrick Mahomes Throws for over 400 Yards
Well, this isn't a surprise. Patrick Mahomes is the best in the league and will be the face of the NFL for some time, and a chance to topple Brady and the Buccaneers will do wonders for his confidence and legacy going forward.
The Bucs defense is talented, but they are beatable. Rodgers threw for 346 yards with three touchdowns against this group not more than two weeks ago, so a talented slinger like Mahomes can easily top 400 in the game.

Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce are All-Pros who are nearly impossible to cover, and Clyde Edwards-Helaire is an above-average pass-catcher for Patrick Mahomes out of the backfield, especially as a safety net.
The Bucs front seven is as good as it gets, but if the Chiefs offensive line can give him time, Patrick Mahomes will throw for 400 yards and lead this Chiefs team to their second straight Lombardi Trophy.
Prediction: Mahomes goes 32 of 39 for 435 yards
2. Mahomes Does His Best Brady Impression
Brady will go down as one of the most clutch quarterbacks of all-time, and it shouldn't be much of a debate. However, Patrick Mahomes will give Brady a taste of his own medicine when the two teams face off at Raymond James Stadium.
Brady has 48 career game-winning drives which is good for third all-time, behind Drew Brees and Peyton Manning. Patrick Mahomes may only have seven game-winning drives to his name, but that's largely due to the fact the Chiefs are up big more often than not.
Still, Patrick Mahomes led the Chiefs last year as they trailed 20-10 against the San Francisco 49ers late in the fourth quarter, and we will see a similar scenario against the Bucs.

Patrick Mahomes came through when it mattered most, and the Chiefs scored 21 straight points after they only scored 10 points in the first three quarters.
The Bucs will jump out to an early lead, and Patrick Mahomes will turn on the magic again and lead Kansas City to another late, improbable comeback in Brady's home stadium.
Prediction: Patrick Mahomes leads Kansas City down the field late in the fourth quarter, Chiefs win.
1. Mahomes Throws 3 touchdowns and Runs for Another
Everybody knows how good Patrick Mahomes' arm strength and accuracy are, and time and time again he throws unbelievable deep balls to his receivers.
The Bucs defense has their work cut out for them in this matchup, and after facing Rodgers and Green Bay, the job gets even harder. While Rodgers is the frontrunner for MVP for good reason, Patrick Mahomes has a better arm and can do more damage with his legs, which will cause a problem for this Tampa Bay defense.

Not only can he run with the ball, but his ability to extend the play with his legs and move out of the pocket is always a problem for defenses no matter how talented they are.

The Bucs had a wide-open lane for Rodgers towards the end of the game in Green Bay, and if they leave that wide of a hole for Patrick Mahomes he will certainly take advantage.
Mahomes is the best quarterback in the league and will lead this Kansas City team to many Super Bowls in his career if he can keep it up, and beating Brady and the Bucs will certainly be a huge achievement.
The bottom line is this: Patrick Mahomes can pass, and run, and extend the play with his legs. He never gives up and impresses everybody week after week with improbable throws and no-look passes, which he has become famous for.

The Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes can repeat as champions if he plays up to his All-Pro standards, and Tampa Bay will have to wait one more season before winning another Super Bowl trophy.
Prediction: Mahomes: 435 yards and three touchdowns in the air, 50 yards and a touchdown on the ground
