With the offseason in full swing, the NFL front office is discussing a number ways to improve the game for both fans and athletes alike. While the use of medical marijuana is not among the league's most pressing issues, it is one that has started to pick up steam in recent years.
One of the early pioneers at the forefront of this issue was former star NFL running back Ricky Williams. According to NBC's Todd Strain, he has now kickstarted his new business called Real Wellness by Ricky Williams, which produces cannabis-based products:

Cannabis has played an important part in my healing journey, and I feel a responsibility to share what I have learned in the process.”
Needless to say, his new business venture should hardly come as any surprise. Williams capped a stellar career at Texas where he was awarded the Heisman Trophy. As a result, former New Orleans Saints head coach Mike Ditka traded up to take him with the fifth overall pick in the 1999 NFL Draft by making him their sole selection in the process. Williams put up some stellar years with the Saints and Miami Dolphins before the suspensions related to marijuana usage began to mount up. Although he came back following a brief hiatus, he was never able to mirror the production he enjoyed in Miami.
Fortunately, it seems he has managed to turn his downfall from the NFL into a promising entrepreneurial opportunity. Williams' products are available throughout several dispensaries in his native San Diego.
