The Miami Dolphins have been without the services of starting quarterback Ryan Tannehill for the last couple of weeks due to a shoulder injury that he suffered against the Cincinnati Bengals nearly a month ago.

It is an ailment that has kept him out of action for what will four straight games after Sunday's contest against the New York Jets. However, this may like extend into Week 10 as Adam H. Beasley and Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald are reporting that his status for that game is very much up in the air.

The injury has caused Tannehill great discomfort and has sidelined him for a month. He has been ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Jets, and his availability for the following week is very much in doubt.

This comes shortly after the diagnoses for the shoulder injury he had suffered was finally revealed on Friday, as he's dealing with capsule injury that he suffered after being hit by Bengals defensive end Carlos Dunlap back in Week 5. It is something that is best deemed that rest will help him recover from the ailment in order to return to the field.

Although there is no target date set for him to be back in the fold for the Dolphins, it doesn't appear to be too far off in the near future. Ryan Tannehill could still prove next week in practice that he is on track to play, but that has been yet to be seen. In the five games that he has played this season, he has thrown for 972 passing yards on a 65.9 percent completion rate with eight touchdowns to five interceptions with a 92.9 passer rating.

In his absence, Brock Osweiler will continue to get the call under center as he has had his fair share of ups and downs on the field throwing for 860 yards with six touchdowns to three interceptions while Miami holds a 1-2 record over that stretch.
