The Minnesota Vikings play the Chicago Bears on Sunday afternoon at Soldier Field and it's been a house of horrors for them. Since 2001 the Vikings are 3-14 in their games played in Chicago but this is still a really good chance for them to beat an NFC North rival. Let's breakdown four reasons the Vikings will mover to 3-1 on Sunday.
4. Dalvin Cook
One of the big reasons the Vikings can come away with a win is pretty simple, it's because of Dalvin Cook. Cook is currently leading the NFL in rushing having racked up 375 yards and four touchdowns on 57 attempts. As a team, the Vikings are averaging 193.7 rushing yards per game, which is second in the league behind only the Baltimore Ravens.
The Bears have been pretty good against the rush this year but against Royce Freeman and the Denver Broncos, they allowed him to rush for 54 yards and 11 attempts. If the Vikings can have some success at running at Khalil Mack that will also make him less effective rushing the passer and that could open up the passing game.
3. Vikings defense against Mitchell Trubisky
The Vikings have faced off against Mitchell Trubisky four times since he has come into the league and they have done a really good job against him. Trubisky hasn't thrown more than 178 yards against the Vikings defense and he has thrown only two touchdowns in the four games.
Don't let Trubisky's last game against a terrible Washington Redskins defense fool you, he has not been good this year. Trubisky only threw for 120 yards against the Denver Broncos, and the Vikings defense has played better than the Broncos.
Mike Zimmer is going to dial up some exotic looks that will frustrate Trubisky and it wouldn't be shocking to see him throw a couple of interceptions.
2. Secondary getting healthy
The Vikings secondary have had to limp through the first couple of weeks of the season but they are finally getting healthy and will have some depth in this game. Xavier Rhodes and Trae Waynes have been healthy but Mackensie Alexander and Mike Hughes have missed at least two games.
Article Continues BelowHughes returned for the first time coming off an ACL injury last week and he should be even better after getting his feet under him.
Alexander is also supposed to return this week from an elbow injury and although he doesn't get talked about a ton he is one of the better slot cornerbacks in the league and will be key with slowing down the Bears wideouts.
The Vikings can also afford to have one of their cornerbacks to go out for a few plays without there being panic.
1. Vikings wideouts
Stefon Diggs hasn't gotten a ton of catches this year but he and Adam Thielen are still one of the best one-two punches in the NFL.
When the Vikings need a big catch they can turn to either of those guys and tight end Irv Smith also had his coming out party against the Oakland Raiders.
The Bears have a good secondary, but I still give the edge to the Vikings to get the job done.
