Two weeks after suffering a hamstring injury against the Detroit Lions, Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Adam Thielen was back at practice on Wednesday. He did not play in Thursday's win over the Washington Redskins but could be in-line to dual the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.
In addition, defensive tackles Linval Joseph and Shamar Stephen were full participates on hump day.
According to team reporter Eric Smith, Thielen went through stretches with teammates before visiting a trainer. He participated with his teammates in position drills.
Thielen did not practice last week, but he tried to play on Thursday despite the injury. He said on Oct 23, via Ben Goessling of the Star Tribune:
“I’m going to do whatever it takes, and I know [the team’s medical staff] is doing whatever it takes to try to get me to play. If the doctors think it’s probably not smart to play, then that is what it is. But I’m going to do whatever it takes, and I’m extremely hopeful I can play.”
If Thielen was so adamant playing last week in a Thursday night stinker, one could assume he will be doing everything he can to face a tough task in the Kansas City Chiefs — who may be getting Patrick Mahomes back.
A two-time Pro Bowler, Thielen is a focal point for the productive Vikings offense. In seven games in 2019, he leads the NFL in touchdown receptions (six), while also tallying 27 receptions (40 targets) for 391 yards. A return would be a massive boost for Minnesota against a formidable foe.
