This offseason has been an entirely different experience for Pro Bowl quarterback Kirk Cousins marking the first time in his career that he's playing for another organization. It has put him in a situation where he has not only adjust to a new environment but also a digest and understand another offensive game plan.

According to Ben Goessling of the Star Tribune, Cousins has voiced that he's still learning the new offense while having to balance that with some much-needed rest prior to the start of training camp.

“It’s a bit like drinking through a firehose right now,” Cousins said at the end of the Vikings’ minicamp. “I need to use the five or six weeks of the summer to go back. All the stuff I didn’t catch, go back through and see that I had starred this, I had check-marked this as something to go back to when we had time, rather than take time when we were so busy. I’ll make a list, probably get on the phone with Coach DeFilippo or give Coach Stefanski an email and just go through it all to get each question answered over the summer.”

The Vikings are hoping that Cousins can be the missing piece to the puzzle this upcoming season as the franchise reached its first NFC Championship game in eight years. The 30-year-old is one of the league's better quarterbacks that is entering a situation where he will have plenty of offensive weapons around him to help him produce and lead the charge.

It could be a chance where he elevates himself among the top-tier quarterbacks in the league while competing for a Super Bowl behind one of the most talented rosters. Cousins has already proven he can lead a team to the postseason, but with one of the NFL's top defenses on the other side of the ball along with Pro Bowl talent around him on offense could be the formula for a championship.

All of this makes this offseason that much more important for him to get acquainted with the offense that will only ramp up in training camp next month.
