Mike Hughes was selected by the Minnesota Vikings with the No. 30 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. It was a selection that many thought would completely beef up their secondary, but a torn ACL shut his season down early.

According to a report shared by Pro Football Talk, Hughes won't be ready to return from the injury until at least training camp.

Vikings cornerback Mike Hughes continues his rehab on his left knee. He has yet to practice with the team and won’t until at least training camp in late July, coach Mike Zimmer said Tuesday, via Andrew Krammer of the Star Tribune.

Minnesota suffered through a rough season in 2018, missing the playoffs and finishing with a record of 8-7-1. Their defense was not awful, but it wasn't as good as it has been in years past. The offense didn't live up to the high expectations they had with Kirk Cousins leading the way either.

Hughes ended up playing in just six regular season games in his rookie year. He recorded 22 total tackles to go along with an interception, a defensive touchdown, and three defended passes. Those numbers show that he has big playmaking potential for the future when he returns.

Hopefully, Hughes is able to make his return during training camp and get caught up to speed quickly. Recovering from a torn ACL can be tough, but the young cornerback is eager to prove himself once again.

Expect to see Hughes come back strong and compete for a consistent role this season with the Vikings.
