The Minnesota Vikings were one of the best teams during the 2017 NFL season. Although their playoff run came to a disappointing end, team owner Zygi Wilf is still optimistic about the Vikings' chances in the near future.

It has been one grueling rebuild after another in Minnesota over the last decade and a half. However, Wilf is pleased with the Vikings' rise as one of the elite teams in the league, and he expects them to stay there, according to Courtney Cronin of ESPN:

“We’ve been in the business for 13 years and we have our ups and downs,” Wilf said. “Sure, it’s a couple days but afterward you look at the future, and you realize that we’re at the top of the game and we’ll be knocking at the door many times.”

After spending years mired at the bottom of the league, the Vikings began to make tremendous strides in the late-1990s with one of the most high-powered offenses in NFL history. After a brief hiatus from the spotlight, Minnesota returned to championship contention after signing veteran quarterback Brett Favre.

When that did not pan out after year one, the Vikings had to essentially start from scratch once again. It seemed Minnesota finally turned the corner after a 5-0 start to the 2016 campaign. Unfortunately, they wound up going 3-8 the rest of the year to miss the playoffs.

That could be why this year's embarrassing loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Championship game was so heartbreaking. However, it is clear that the Vikings will no longer sneak up on any team moving forward.
