Through the first three games of the season, the New Orleans Saints have depended on Pro Bowl running back Alvin Kamara to take on a more significant role in the offense as Mark Ingram serves a month-long suspension.
According to Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk, Kamara was limited in practice on Friday, but he will play in Sunday's game against the New York Giants.
Alvin Kamara was limited in practice Friday, but it appears only a precaution, as the Saints do not list the running back on their status report.
Kamara has a knee injury that limited him Wednesday, but he had a full practice Thursday.
There's no real concern with Kamara's health, as the team seems to just be maintaining him in the days leading up to Week 4 action. The Saints did make a move to add more depth at the running back position on Friday, adding Dwayne Washington to the roster for Jonathan Williams.
The increased workload hasn't hurt Kamara's performance, as he has been one of the most productive running backs in the league. He has rushed for 141 yards on 37 carries with a pair of touchdowns while catching 30 passes for 289 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Kamara is picking up where he left off last year, proving to be a highly effective dual-threat option out of the backfield. Much of his work has come in the passing game, as he's third in the league in receptions and 10th with 96.3 receiving yards per game. He notched a pair of 100 receiving-yard performances while tallying at six catches and 50 receiving yards in all three games.
Following Sunday's game, the Saints will have their other dynamic runner back in the fold, as Ingram's four-game suspension for violating the league's performance-enhancing drug policy will be complete.
