Former New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton has the perfect rebuttal to those hyping up the supposed “rivalry” between NOLA and the Atlanta Falcons.

Both the Saints and Falcons have been linked with Deshaun Watson this offseason, with the former even already creating the cap space needed for their pursuit of the wantaway Houston Texans QB. Of course given the history between the two NFC South teams, their chase of the same quarterback got people talking about their rivalry and how it can be further stoked by the Watson pursuit.

Jeff Duncan of The Times-Picayune shared the exact same thought on Twitter, saying that if Falcons GM and ex-Saints exec “Terry Fontenot beats his mentor and longtime friend Mickey Loomis to the punch on a trade for Deshaun Watson, it's going to ramp up the Saints-Falcons rivalry even more for these next few years.”

Upon seeing the tweet, however, Payton couldn't hold himself back in saying: “Rivalry???”

Now that's savage!

However, it's not like Sean Payton is lying though. He has every right to question the legitimacy of the supposed intense rivalry between the Saints and Falcons given the fact that there wasn't much competition between the two in the past.

During Payton's tenure with the Saints, the team went 21-9 against the Falcons. With that said, there isn't really much rivalry to hype up.

Of course the Falcons would love to hit back at the Saints, and they could very well start by beating them on the Deshaun Watson front. After that, though, they really need to show on the field that they are worthy rivals.
