A marquee matchup is looming on the horizon as the New Orleans Saints will face off against the dominant Green Bay Packers in Week 3 proceedings. Saints head coach Sean Payton and his men looked impressive in their opening day win against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers but fell short against the Las Vegas Raiders in their second outing.

Mina Kimes of ESPN stirred the pot by coming out with a bold statement ahead of Sunday's game:

“If that was not Drew Brees out there, if it was any other quarterback playing the way he has, not only through Weeks 1 and 2 but the end of last season, you have to remember, this has been going on for a while, Jameis would be in there,” she said on NFL Live.

Dating back to the 2019 NFL Playoffs, the heavily-tagged favorites were stunned in overtime by the upstart Minnesota Vikings on their home turf last season. A record-breaking campaign and Super Bowl aspirations immediately went down the drain for the New Orleans-based team.

In their first game of the 2020 NFL season, the 20-year veteran racked up a total of 160 passing yards on 18-of-30 passes completed along with two scored touchdowns in their first victory against the Bucs.

In Week 2, the Raiders' defensive line was able to make life harder for Brees as he generated a total of 312 passing yards on a 26/38 clip along with a touchdown and an interception for the Saints' losing efforts. His advancing age could have been a factor in his inconsistent play for the Saints as of late.

Waiting on the wings is newly-acquired quarterback Jameis Winston who led the league in total passing yards last season with 5,109. He has yet to play a game this season, but that could possibly change if Brees continues to be ineffective for the Saints.

The Hall of Fame-bound quarterback's performance in their upcoming games will be viewed under the microscope with Winston raring to take over and strut his wares for his new team. Despite the situation, Saints fans are still hoping that Brees can make a statement and lead the team to its second win on Sunday against the Packers.
