The New York Jets dropped to 0-3 on Sunday after their 30-14 loss to the New England Patriots, and the game wasn't even as close as the final score appeared.
The Jets trailed 30-0 at one point, and neither of their touchdowns came from the offense.
Afterward, head coach Adam Gase called out the offense for its awful performance:
Article Continues Below“Offensively, we were atrocious,” Gase said, according to Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk. “As bad as you can get. We’ve got a lot to fix going into the bye. We’re going to have to address all of these issues that we are having right now.”
Now, to be fair to the Jets, they were down to their third-string quarterback in Luke Falk, as Sam Darnold was sidelined with mono and Trevor Siemian was knocked out for the season with an ankle injury last week against the Cleveland Browns.
But, as wide receiver Robby Anderson said, Darnold's absence was no excuse for “missed opportunities, lack of execution and no rhythm.”
New York has been one of the worst offensive teams in the NFL this season, as it ranks dead last in yardage and 30th in points per game, and the points per game stat is actually misleading considering none of the Jets' points came from their offense against the Patriots.
Gang Green will now get a couple of weeks off to try and right the ship, but things aren't about to get any easier, as the Jets will have to head on the road to take on the Philadelphia Eagles once they come out of their bye week.
