What was previously a laboring New York Jets offense has suddenly looked competent over the last couple of weeks, as the Jets have scored 34 points in each of their last two games, resulting in wins both times.

Apparently, it was a meeting between head coach Adam Gase and quarterback Sam Darnold that sparked things.

“I think it was really important for me at the time because I felt like I had a lot better understanding of the offense at that point during the season and I felt like I knew the offense well enough to go in and have a really good conversation with him about it,” Darnold said of the meeting on Monday, per Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk. “That’s really all it was. As an offense, I feel like we’ve been able to find our rhythm and it’s been really good. Hopefully we can continue that this week.”

Darnold had been struggling mightily through Week 9, dealing with a bout of mono that caused him to miss three games and putting forth a dreadful Week 7 performance against the New England Patriots in which he posted a passer rating of 3.6.

However, the second-year signal-caller began to turn things around in a Week 10 victory over the New York Giants, completing 19 of his 30 throws for 230 yards and a touchdown. Then, this past weekend, Darnold went 19-for-30 with 293 yards, four touchdowns and one interception in a win over the Washington Redskins.

Sure, the quality of the opponents has not exactly been great, but at this point, the Jets are just hoping for any offensive production they can get.

They'll have a bit of a bigger test on their slate in Week 12 when they take on the Oakland Raiders.

Gang Green is 3-7 on the year.
