The New York Jets are a winless 0-3 to start the 2019 regular season while such a slump hardly comes as a surprise. Adding injury to insult, the Jets lost the team's Week 3 matchup against the arch rival New England Patriots without the services of starting quarterback Sam Darnold, who continues to battle an ongoing bout with mononucleosis.
With the Jets currently headed toward the team's bye week in Week 4, it appears as though New York head coach Adam Gase believes that Darnold could return for Week 5's matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles. While it was initially reported that Darnold could ultimately miss up to approximately two months due to such an illness, perhaps only a two-game absence will be in the cards in the end.

After blowing a late double-digit fourth quarter lead in Week 1 against the rival Buffalo Bills, the Jets then got blown out at home against the 1-2 Cleveland Browns in Week 2's installment of Monday Night Football. Adding to the Jets' seemingly nonstop woes thus far into the 2019 campaign, backup quarterback Trevor Siemian was ruled out for the remainder of the season just a few snaps into his Gang Green tenure against the Browns. As a result, Luke Falk continues to serve as the team's starter under center in the absence of Darnold, who has not played since Week 1 against the Bills.
With the Patriots and Bills both undefeated and the lowly Miami Dolphins nowhere near competitive, it seems as though the Jets are primed for a third-place finish in the AFC East standings.
